In the midst of intense streaming wars, Amazon Prime Video is bringing live music to people's bedrooms.
👉 Background: Amazon has its own Amazon Prime Video platform to compete against the big dawgs of the streaming world. Amazon Prime Video has nearly 137 million monthly active users (not quite at Disney+ or Netflix levels, but still pretty darn competitive).
👉 What happened: Recently, Amazon Prime Video added a range of live sports in the US, like Thursday Night Football. But now, it has added a new live stream called “Amazon Music Live”.
👉 What else: Rapper 2 Chainz will interview each artist and we’ve got some pretty big stars performing live on the streaming platform. And this is all part of the evolution of streaming services from 'on-demand streaming' to also include 'live-streaming'.
💡When growth starts to slow, you need to add more strings to your bow. Many on-demand streaming services have started to roll out live-streaming as part of their service to broaden its offering.
💡And it's going global:
💡The live streaming segment of the streaming market is expected to have the highest market share by 2027 so it makes sense why platforms are bringing in these live shows.
