Now, the CommBank CEO wants all staff to return to the office for at least 50% of the week.
👉 Background: CommBank is the largest of the Big Four banks in Australia with nearly 16 million customers. When COVID hit, the large majority of CommBank 's 50,000 staff were forced to work from home.
👉 What happened: Now, the CommBank CEO wants all staff to return to the office for at least 50% of the week... by July 17. Not everyone was thrilled with the news - there are talks of an internal revolt, and threats of quitting!
👉 What else: The Financial Services Union is begging Fair Work to get involved. But CommBank is standing firm - they reckon that productivity and collaboration at home just isn't cutting it.
💡The jury is still out as to whether WFH helps or hinders productivity. Many employees feel that rigid work structures of yesteryear are no longer suitable to their lives.
💡According to the latest HILDA survey, 42 per cent of respondents said they had lower productivity from home. While 24 per cent said the shift had made them more productive.
💡But the Financial Services Union says CommBank's profit is higher AND productivity is higher, despite 3 years at home. So this little tussle is gonna be juicy... may even become a cage match at some point.
