Call Scotty Cam, 'cos Disney's about to enter the building.
Background: Walt Disney Co is famous for its classic films (Mulan, Frozen) and its theme parks (Disneyland, Disney World), but now it's about to enter the residential property space.
What happened: The company has formed a new business unit called Storyliving by Disney. The plan is to create communities in partnership with landowners and developers.
What else: The first development will include 1,900 housing units, shops, a beachfront hotel and a 24-acre lagoon. It's all part of Disney's plan to bring the Mickey Mouse magic to people in a load of different ways.
💡 As companies become more mature, they often need to find new ventures to keep their organisation relevant, profitable and alive.
💡Disney is entering its second century in the existence...and there are only so many reboots of old classics a company can make before it needs to switch lanes.
💡 The company has mastered movies, toys, theme parks, streaming...now, it's come around to residential communities. What's next...space travel?! 👽
