An Aussie healthcare startup just raised $10 mil in the biggest seed round ever by an all female founded startup

Human just secured $10 mil in funding and it's kind of a big deal...

What's the key learning?

  • Human is a startup that aims to help doctors and patients access the best info about chronic neurological conditions
  • Human secured $10 million in funding, the largest seed round by an all female founded startup in Australia
  • The Female Founder Funding Report revealed that only 4% of venture capital and private investment went to solely female-founded startups between 2017 and 2021

👉 Background: Human is a startup that aims to help doctors and patients access the best info about chronic neurological conditions...

👉 What happened: The startup has just secured $10 million in funding and aims to reduce the need to resort to Dr Google and find 10,456 illnesses for the sniffles (we all do it!).

👉 What else: This makes Human's seed round the largest ever by an all female founded startup in Australia.

What's the key learning?

💡While the number of female founded startups has come far, there's still a long way to go. The Female Founder Funding Report contains some pretty alarming stats about female founded startups in Oz.

💡 Just 4% of venture capital and private investment went to solely female-founded startups between 2017 and 2021. And female founded teams raised significantly less than male teams per round.

💡Thankfully, we're starting to see more female founded or led unicorns popping up in the US, like Bumble and ClassPass. But Australia has been slow to catch up.
