Welp, there it is... The Russia-Ukraine war has hit just about every industry now.
Background: Over the last few years, Ukraine has actually become a key part of the chip-making process for medical devices.
What happened: Ukraine manages half the world’s supply of neon gas. This is used in semiconductor chips. And those semiconductor chips are essential for MRI machines and ventilator machines.
What else: Now, because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the two major suppliers of neon gas have stopped their operations... and ASX-listed company Resmed has had to convince investors that there won't be a supply squeeze.
💡Over the last 2 years, global manufacturing has been hit with the ol' triple whammy.
💡 And with these 3 whammies, the ideals of a globalised economy have come into question.
💡 For many manufacturers, particularly in the healthcare space, who rely on Ukraine, Russia and China, it has forced a re-think of where they produce their products.
