Intrepid Travel had its strongest monthly bookings ever.
👉 Background: Intrepid Travel is a privately owned Australian company founded back in 1989. This year, it's expected to carry over 250,000 travellers to a whole range of destinations - think Morocco, Japan and all parts of Europe.
👉 What happened: COVID lockdowns were not kind for Intrepid. They reported EBITDA losses of more than $40 million in 2021 and more than $17 million in 2022. But in Jan and Feb this year, they had their strongest monthly bookings… everrrr. We’re talking nearly $60 million in sales for these months alone.
👉 What else: Interestingly, although Intrepid Travel is a private company, it releases its financials every single year. And it’s all part of its push towards being a fully transparent B Corp.
💡 Unlike traditional companies that prioritise financial profitability only, B Corps actually look at something called the ‘triple bottom line’. That means focusing as much on social and environmental issues as much as they focus on profits.
💡Intrepid Travel ain’t the only B Corp focusing on social issues and still making a chunky revenue:
💡While conventional wisdom says that in business, you have to make a choice between making money, or doing good… it seems like there’s a way to do both!
