Noumi (FKA Freedom Foods) says Milklab can be its hero, baby

Move over Enrique, there's a new hero in town...and it's plant-based milk brand Milklab.

What's the key learning?

  • Noumi's earnings were down 79% to $4.6 million for the first half of the FY2022
  • In amongst the tough times, Milklab has proved to be Noumi's hero product, with sales up 32%
  • Hero products are generally a business' best-selling product, and one that's always front and centre of the company's business strategy.

Background: Noumi is an ASX-listed food company. It used to be called Freedom Foods Group, but after a rough coupla years, the company had a complete re-brand.

What happened: Despite the re-brand, Noumi didn't reveal the best results. Company's earnings were down 79% to $4.6 million for the first half of the FY2022.

What else: In amongst the COVID lockdowns, supply chain issues, staffing shortages and inflation, there's been one, beautiful 💎 in the rough: Milklab. Its sales shot up 32% in Australia and 64% in export markets as it becomes the saving grace and hero for Noumi.

🔔 What's the key learning?

💡Hero products are generally a business' best-selling product, and one that's always front and centre of the company's business strategy.

💡In other words, if a business had to sell just one product...the hero product would be it. But there's more to a hero product that meets the eye.

💡Hero products need to be the best product at communicating a brand's message and values to the audience. And not only is Milklab Noumi's best-seller...it also aligns with its mission to spread the plant-based word.
