OpenAI releases GPTs in the biggest drop since the OG ChatGPT... but cya CEO

OpenAI's former CEO released its new feature, an AI agent called GPTs.

What's the key learning?

  • OpenAI's new AI agent is a way for users to customise ChatGPT to fit specific use cases.
  • Unlike the more general applications of AI seen, these AI agents can supposedly be customised with specific data inputs.
  • The market for AI agents is estimated to grow from USD 4.8 billion in 2023 to USD 28.5 billion by 2028.

👉 Background: OpenAI is the company behind ChatGPT, the tool that single-handedly made the AI industry hot. It became the fastest tool to reach 100 million users, ahead of Facebook, TikTok, and Snap. And now, ChatGPT has grown to 100 million weekly users.

👉 What happened: Last week at their DevDay, OpenAI's (now-former) CEO released its new feature, an AI agent called GPTs. Essentially, it's a way for users to customise ChatGPT to fit specific use cases.

👉 What else: For example:

  • Step 1: Upload Mr Beast interviews about how to make the perfect YouTube video
  • Step 2: Upload your own video
  • Step 3: Wait for the GPT to give you feedback as if it was Mr Beast.

And, this is all part of the next generation of personalised AI agents. And just after this major release, OpenAI sacked its CEO Sam Altman.

What's the key learning?

💡Move over generic chatbots, the future is personalised. Unlike the more general applications of AI seen, these AI agents can supposedly be customised with specific data inputs.

💡The market for AI agents is estimated to grow from USD 4.8 billion in 2023 to USD 28.5 billion by 2028. That's a growth rate of 43.0% during the forecast period.

💡And this is just the beginning for AI agents. There is potential for them to act autonomously too.
