After 3 years since it opened in Australia, Providoor has shut down.
👉 Background: Back in early 2020, when COVID forced the whole country (and world?) into major lockdowns, many high-end restaurants were considering shutting down for good.
👉 What happened: Melbourne chef Shane Delia launched Providoor in Melbourne and expanded into Sydney and Brisbane. It generated more than $70 million in sales in its first 18 months.
👉 What else: But sadly, after 3 years…and with restaurants well and truly back open, Providoor has shut down after one of its major shareholders withdrew capital.
💡COVID created a false economy that lulled many into a false sense of success… or failure. We know that it caused some businesses, like restaurants and physical retailers, to struggle big time.
