TikTok is working on a range of new features inside its app to drive creator loyalty.
👉 Background: We know TikTok as the addictive-algorithmically-amazing-app that has swallowed up the attention of around 1.8 billion people - away from the likes of YouTube, Snap and Instagram.
👉 What happened: It’s now been revealed that TikTok is supposedly working on a range of new features inside its app to drive creator loyalty. In particular, the Tok is looking at ways to enable content creators to paywall some of their content within the app.
👉 What else: It’s part of the growing trend of creators getting paid for their premium content by followers, as opposed to just relying on brand deals.
💡 Content creators and users provide so much of the value to social platforms enjoy today, yet these creators traditionally enjoyed none of the profits… until more recently.
💡Social media platforms recognise that without the quality content of creators and their armies of followers, their business is close to worthless.
So the war for creator talent is vicious.
💡 While creator funds are common on each platform (YT, Insta and TikTok), it’s kinda hard to make a living off it. So it’s only natural that TikTok rewards the pool of content creators that fueled its rise in the first place.
