It wants to Be The One app you need...It'll book your tickets to Dua Lipa's next concert - and get you a ride there.
Background: Uber has mastered the transport and delivery side of things...but now, it's launching a new 'Explore' tab in its app.
What happened: The new feature will let you browse and book experiences (kinda like Red Balloon)...or dinner reservations (like Open Table)...or book live events (like Ticketmaster). It'll then offer rides based on where you're going.
What else: The company wants to increase engagement within the app and of course, diversify its revenue streams. But hold ya horses, it's only available in the US for now.
💡 When a business starts to mature, it can reach market saturation for its existing features. We know Uber has become ubiquitous for ride-share... So now, it needs to diversify.
💡In particular, Uber received a wake up call when it's ride-share was badly affected by COVID lockdowns. But the increased revenue from Uber Eats helped it remain afloat.
💡By introducing new features within the app, Uber's testing new ways to drive traffic...and hopefully have more diverse revenue streams.
