YouTube has announced it will introduce support for multi-language audio tracks - in other words - dubbing.
๐ Background: YouTube is the video-sharing platform founded in 2005 by three former PayPal employees. As of 2021, YouTube had over 2 billion monthly active users, with over 1 billion hours of video watched every day.
๐ What happened: Now, YouTube has announced it will introduce support for multi-language audio tracks - in other words - dubbing - like Netflix shows for all the videos on YouTube.
๐ What else: YouTube ran tests with a small group of creators and found that over 15% of the viewers watched the video in a different language to the original recording. And this could become a game changer for millions of creators looking to expand their audience.
๐ก Technology can make creators globally appealing, irrespective of their background.
๐ก In 2021, Mr Beast created multiple new channels - Portuguese, Russian, French, Hindi, Japanese, and Arabic with the same content - just dubbed. Since then, these channels reached over 160 million views in just 6 months.
๐ก And now, YouTube has created the technology that allows other content creators to replicate the Mr Beast model - without any additional effort. This means that all YouTubers can become globally appealing, irrespective of their language.
