👉 What happened: Over the last week, Brand faced rape and sexual assault allegations. And this week, YouTube said it would suspend Brand from selling ads on the platform.

What's the key learning?

💡For years, Big Tech platforms disciplined users based on their on-platform activity (ie if they promoted violence or racism), but that has changed in recent years.

💡YouTube is now suspending creators for off-platform behaviour too. And this is what happened in the case of Russell Brand, who violated YouTube's Creator Responsibility Policy.

💡YouTube's move has also set a precedent for Brand's content on other services; the BBC said this week that it would also remove some of Brand's content from its platforms.
