The well-matched acquisition will help Mr Yum offer more bespoke services.
๐ Background: Mr Yum is the Melbourne-based startup behind that QR code menu and ordering platform you see at all your fave restaurants. On the other hand, MyGuestlist is a restaurant marketing platform.
๐ What happened: Mr Yum launched in 2018, but it really hit its peak in 2020 thanks to a COVID-driven trend towards contactless everything. Now, in a pairing as perfect as steak and a fine red wine ๐ท, Mr Yum has bought MyGuestlist.
๐ What else: The menu moguls will gain access to MyGuestlist's customer relationship management platform. So while the pandemic is nearly (kinda) over, Mr Yum is just getting started.
๐กCOVID created a lot of flash-in-the-pan-type businesses. One minute they were on fire, the next... they were gone. Hand sani, air sani, streaming services... you name it.
๐ก Netflix's share price is down 66% since December 2020. And poor ol' Peloton's share price is down a whopping 88% from the same time. And yet, online ordering and menu businesses are still flourishing post-COVID.
๐กThe digitisation of hospitality venues has been a long time coming. So by providing some much-needed innovation, it's onwards and upwards for Mr Yum!
