Apple just unveiled a tonne of new features at WWDC - and one of them puts it in direct competition with Google.
👉 Background: Apple hosts its worldwide developers conference each year in California. It's kinda like Coachella for software gurus. Apple usually uses the conference to showcase new products and features, like Memojis in 2018 (remember those?).
👉 What happened: We got some specky new features this year, like the fact that you can now unsend or edit (regretful, late night) texts in messages. You can also use your iPhone as a webcam, and they're launching an Apple Pay Later feature (aka look out Afterpay).
👉 What else: Arguably the most interesting element is Apple's big push into a place it hasn't really owned before... the car. And taking on their long-time rivals Google once again.
💡 The battle between Apple and Google is shifting from the old, trusty telephone to the garage! Those two are battling to control how you operate within your car.
💡 The reason they're so keen? The average Australian commutes for 48 minutes per day. And the average American commutes 35 minutes per day. That’s more and more opportunities for Apple and Google to get you using their products.
💡 And Apple is real serious about it - it announced partnerships with Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Nissan, Ford, Audi, Honda, Volvo and the list goes on. Your move, Google!
