Sex sells. Or does it? In the case of the App and Google Play store...Not quite.
OnlyFans is the content site known for the racy stuff. Ya know, the 18+ sorta content. It's got around 85 million users, and they're seeking some extra $$ to put their valuation at over US$1 billion.
For a while now, OnlyFans has been trying to shed its sexy shell. It wants to be known for more than adult content, so it can attract new investors. Because new investors = more money.
These guys have never had an app, until now. They've launched OFTV - a new app with around 800 original videos from pilates instructors, chefs and podcasters. The catch? No nudity or pornography.
Sex don't sell on the App or Google Play stores, Flux fam.
Let's take you back to 2008. Kings of Leon launched Sex On Fire, and Steve Jobs launched the App Store, with a vow to never allow pornographic content in apps. Same goes for Google Play.
But if sites like OnlyFans want to be more mainstream - and more profitable - they need to put their clothes back on to get around Apple and Google's guidelines, and ultimately entice more investors.
